A Friendsville Volunteer Fire Department fire apparatus was struck by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 68 while providing traffic control at the scene of a vehicle crash Monday evening. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m., and the Maryland State Police at McHenry said the interstate was closed for a period of time. There were no injuries, but significant damage was done to the fire unit. Monday evening’s storm system dumped nearly 8-inches of snow in Grantsville, with six inches reported at Accident, according to the Cumberland Times-News.
