On April 16th, 2026, at approximately 5:00 a.m., deputies were dispatched to a reported burglary in progress in the 22000 block of Gilpin Road, Flintstone, MD. A resident, who was at work for the Allegany County Department of Emergency Services, had been notified by a surveillance system that a suspect was attempting to enter his home.
Upon arrival, Sheriff’s Office K9 “Erik” was deployed and successfully located the suspect hiding nearby within 60 seconds. The suspect, identified as Stefani Ann Werry, 44, of Oldtown, MD, was taken into custody and transported to the Allegany County Detention Center pending a bond review.
This incident marks the third successful location of a suspect or endangered person by Sheriff’s K9 teams in the last five months.
