The Cumberland Mayor and City Council are considering an 8 per cent water and 11 per cent sewer rate increase. The current proposed 8 per cent water rate increase would raise it to $8.77, according to the Cumberland Times-News. The city, however, is not considering any rate increases for trash or property taxes. The plan also includes a 3 per cent pay raise for full-time city employees, plus longevity steps, in accordance with union contracts.
