Three officials from Everett, Pennsylvania have been named in a $500,000 lawsuit, citing officer misconduct and harassment, and alleging an attempted coverup. Mayor Harry Leonard, Police Chief Thaddeus Yothers, and Officer Steven Kagarise have been named in the suit, with Kagarise accused of harassing and intimidating the plaintiff in the suit. The lawsuit claims Kagarise had sex with the plaintiff in the 1980s, and later, allegedly covered it up. He also covered up an incident involving the plaintiff’s father and younger sister. The suit requests that the $500,000 be split among the defendants as a judge sees fit. The defendants have filed a request for an extension to respond to the allegations in March. They have until tomorrow to respond.
