According to the Cumberland Times-News, the Allegany County Commissioners have failed to follow the law when they sold and leased various real estate parcels. In a complaint filed by Frostburg resident Kit Pepper Lescallette—who has filed to run for county commissioner—charges the current board members repeatedly treat transparency, public participation, and the law “as obstacles to work around, instead of obligations to honor.” The complaint has been filed with the Maryland Office of the State Prosecutor. The commissioners say they plan to comply with the hearing process, which includes public notices, required under Maryland law.
