ZEMBOWER’S DAMAGED BY EARLY MORNING FIRE

The Cumberland Fire Department fire marshal is investigating an early morning fire at Zembower’s Hardware on North Mechanic Street. Units were called out just before 12:30 a.m. yesterday. Fire units from Allegany and Mineral Counties responded, along with ambulances from three separate agencies. A nearby residence was also evacuated as a precaution. Firefighters remained on the scene for several hours. No injuries were reported in the blaze, but three cats were found deceased during overhaul operations.
