The longtime head of the Maryland Sports Commission is no longer on the job. Terry Hasseltine exited his position after 17 years leading the state’s efforts to attract major sporting events. Hasseltine’s name has been removed from the commission and Maryland Stadium Authority websites, but officials call it a “personnel matter” and won’t say why. Under Hasseltine, Maryland has hosted events like the Army-Navy game and the BMW Championship and retained the Preakness Stakes.
