Attorneys for Somerset County Sheriff Dusty Weir are asking a judge to throw out a criminal charge of corruption of minors against him. Weir’s attorney argues that prosecutors failed to present enough evidence, saying there was no physical contact between the sheriff and 15-year-old girl during a ”Shop With a Cop” event in 2024. They also claim the allegations, even if true, don’t meet the legal standard for corruption of minors. A hearing in the case is scheduled for next Thursday.
