A report from consumer watchdog group Public Citizen is naming three UPMC hospitals that could be at risk of closure due to cuts to Medicaid. The documents lists UPMC Mercy, UPMC McKeesport, and UPMC Greene among nearly 450 hospitals nationwide that are vulnerable due to their reliance on income from government healthcare programs. Last summer, President Trump signed a bill that cut over 900-billion in federal dollars from the Medicaid and CHIP programs over the next decade, according to the Congressional Budget Office. Highlands Hospital in Connellsville is on the list as well.
