More information on the fatal shooting Wednesday afternoon in Hampshire County. The victim has been identified as 71-year-old Michael Bacha, and the suspect is 83-year-old Robert Allen Shartzer. The shooting took place at a residence near Spring Gap Road. The two men were arguing, when Mr. Shartzer allegedly shot Bacha three times with a .40 caliber Glock pistol; the third shot was likely the fatal shot. Shartzer fled into the woods, but was quickly apprehended, with help from the Maryland State Police Medevac Unit and two K-9 officers from the Allegany County Sheriff’s Department. He has been charged with murder, and the investigation is ongoing.
