Martina McBride is sharing a statement after backing out of the Great American State Fair. In a post on Instagram, the singer said she believed the event would be “nonpartisan,” however, she said she was misled. She added “it greatly upsets me that any fan who has been moved by my music may now feel like I’m abandoning the meaning behind those songs,” and “I assure you, that is not the case.” McBride isn’t the only artist who has dropped out of the Great American State Fair, as Bret Michaels, and the Commodores are others who have called off their performances. The Great American State Fair is happening from June 25th through July 10th on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. It’s aimed at observing the United States’ 250th anniversary.
