TRIAL OF SOMERSET COUNTY SHERIFF UNDERWAY

Jurors have heard opening statements in the trial of Somerset County Sheriff Dusty Weir.  Weir faces a misdemeanor charge of corruption of minors after his participation in a 2024 ‘Shop with a Cop’ event.  Prosecutors say that Weir took a 15-year-old female to a condom display at a local Walmart store, made inappropriate comments and asked the girl personal questions before trying to take her picture.  Prosecutors told jurors that they will be shown surveillance video of the incident and that they will hear testimony from the victim.
