After nearly five hours of deliberation, jurors found Somerset, Pennsylvania Sheriff Dusty Weir not guilty of corruption of minors. Witness testimony was concluded yesterday, but jurors told the judge they were deadlocked; he sent them back to try to reach a unanimous verdict, and they did. Many in Somerset County feel the charges were lodged against Sheriff Weir in retaliation for a woman who was fired in the Sheriff’s Office; that woman was the mother of the alleged victim.
