The U.S. Justice Department is suing Pennsylvania and three other states, claiming state officials have refused to turn over information related to SNAP programs. Federal prosecutors say data on benefits and eligibility requested by the USDA has not been provided by leaders in Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Michigan and Minnesota. The Trump Administration claims instances of fraud, abuse and waste within the system cost taxpayers nationwide over 10 billion dollars for fiscal year 2025. The DOJ is seeking an injunction to force state officials to provide the information. Pennsylvania leaders have not publicly commented on the lawsuit.
