SHERIFF ASKING PUBLIC ASSISTANCE IN IDENTIFYING CAR

The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office is asking for assistance in identifying a vehicle that left the scene of a fatal hit-and-run in LaVale on July 6^th. The victim has been identified as Tina Marie Gillespie of Cumberland, formerly of Petersburg, West Virginia. She had been crossing Campground Road from the intersection of Park Avenue West, when she was struck three times at about 9 p.m. The vehicle is a light-colored Subaru Forester with Maryland registration, and is believed to be a 2008 or newer model. She was transported to UPMC-Western Maryland, where she later died. Any witnesses are asked to contact Corporal Jacob Martel at jmartel@alleganygov.org.
