Governor Patrick Morrisey announced plans for a new Dominion Energy natural gas power plant in Grant County. The project is expected to create about 14-hundred construction jobs and about 150 permanent positions if it receives regulatory approval. Dominion says the existing Mount Storm coal-fired power plant will continue operating alongside the new facility, which is expected to begin service in 2034. Morrisey says the project supports his goal of expanding West Virginia’s power generation while strengthening the regional electric grid.
