WEST VIRGINIA SCHOOL CLOTHING PROGRAM CLOSES EARLY

State Treasurer Larry Pack is criticizing the sudden closure of West Virginia’s School Clothing Allowance Program.  The program gave families a 200-dollar voucher to buy clothes before the school year, but it shut down after just one week.  Officials point to a shortage of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families money to explain the closure.  More than 52-thousand children had already applied for help this year and Governor Patrick Morrisey’s office says overall spending on the program is close to last year’s level.
