Former Allegany County EMS Chief Christopher Biggs died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound early Friday morning in the parking lot of the Hagerstown barracks of the Maryland State Police. A Maryland State Police helicopter was requested, but EMS crews chose to take him to Meritus Medical Center, where he died. Biggs had a lengthy history in emergency services in both Allegany and Mineral counties, and as an EMS educator. He had been employed by the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute as an advanced life support instructor since 2023.
