DETAILS RELEASED ON FATAL SHOOTING ALONG FRANKFORT HIGHWAY

No charges have been filed, but an apparent road rage incident led to the death of 75-year-old Robert Beeman. Both he and 21-year-old Kenneth Eversole were traveling southbound when an encounter between the two began on the roadway. Investigators say Beeman was traveling in front of Eversole and reportedly applied his brakes in front of Eversole’s vehicle on two occasions. Eversole later passed Beeman, but investigators say Beeman continued behind him, making hand gestures and motioning for Eversole to pull over. Both vehicles eventually pulled off the roadway. Authorities say Beeman then approached Eversole’s vehicle, where a verbal confrontation escalated into a physical altercation. During the confrontation, Eversole reportedly produced a .380-caliber handgun and fired two shots, both striking Beeman.  Eversole’s passenger, Gretchen Hamilton, 20, called 911 while Eversole reportedly rendered aid to Beeman until emergency personnel arrived. Despite lifesaving efforts, Beeman was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Mineral County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Once the investigation is complete, the case will be forwarded to the Mineral County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.
