MARYLAND ENDS SUMMER DRIVING SEASON WITH FEWER ROAD FATALITIES

Maryland transportation officials say 136 people were killed in traffic crashes between Memorial Day and Labor Day, down from 152 during the same period last year.  The state has recorded 290 roadway deaths so far this year, compared with 332 at this point in 2025, a 13 percent decrease.  Officials say every traffic death is preventable and are urging drivers to slow down, avoid distractions and never drive impaired.  Maryland is also ending its weekly fatal crash updates and moving to monthly reports.
