The Helmstetter’s Curve solar project could receive a public hearing as soon as next month. Solar Star Allegany South, LLC, is seeking a certificate of public convenience and necessity to build the project on a tract of land at 11515 Cash Valley Road. The project is expected to power roughly 870 homes, save subscribers roughly 10 per cent in energy bill discounts, and provide Allegany County about $2.2 million in tax benefits. The next hearing on the project could happen as early as next month, or early November.
