Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday is asking a federal judge to hold Martin Shkreli in civil contempt for allegedly violating a lifetime ban from the pharmaceutical industry. Shkreli, also known as Pharma Bro, was banned in 2022 after authorities accused him of using illegal tactics to block competition and drive up the price of a potentially life-saving drug used to treat parasitic infections. After Shkreli acquired the rights to Paragrim in 2015, the price jumped from 17-50 a tablet to 700 and 50 dollars a tablet. On Tuesday, AG Sunday accused Shkreli of violating the ban by trading drug company stocks and conducting business in the pharmaceutical industry. Sunday is joined by the Federal Trade Commission and attorneys general from California, Illinois, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, and Virginia in asking the court to hold Shkreli in contempt and sanction him.
