A new survey says one-third of college applicants rule out schools because of politics in the states they reside in. Red-state politics cause liberal-leaning students to avoid applying to colleges in Texas and Florida and conservative-leaning applicants avoid schools in New York and California. The survey was done by the consulting and research firm Art & Science Group. It found that overall 34-percent of applicants rule out colleges over state politics.
