Officials want the state Supreme Court to wait until next spring before hearing a school funding lawsuit. The ACLU filed the case in September, asking the justices to order a full overhaul of school funding. The Attorney General’s Office says lawmakers are already working on it. Governor Patrick Morrisey says school funding will dominate the next session, but he has not said which approach he favors. Lawmakers return January 13, 2027, with school funding expected to be a key issue.
