HYNDMAN MAN HELD FOLLOWING KNIFE ATTACK

Bail has been denied for 43-year-old Hyndman resident Donald Merkel, after being accused of attacking another man and his underage daughter in Londonderry Township. Merkel allegedly made repeated derogatory comments about another family in the area, and tried to attack them with a knife. The female victim suffered multiple cuts from Merkel allegedly swinging the knife around. Multiple felony charges were lodged against him, and he also faces counts of reckless endangerment and possessing an “instrument of crime.”
